Kolkata: An Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawan deputed on Lok Sabha election duty in Bankura reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday evening. Other jawans heard sound of gunfire and ran to its source only to discover him lying in a pool of blood.According to sources, elections in Bankura constituency is scheduled on May 12 during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. For this purpose, one company of Central Force from 6th Battalion of IRB was sent to camp at Bhului Sashi Bhusan Roy Primary School and wait for their deployment. On Wednesday, around 5:45 pm, other jawans heard a gunshot from inside a room. Also, the service revolver of Lama was found on the floor next to him. He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. It is suspected that he might have committed suicide. But the cause has not been ascertained yet. Senior officials of the IRB and Election Commission have been informed. Sleuths are checking with his colleagues is Lama was going through any mental depression. Also, probe is on to clarify whether he had any family problems too.
