(Credit: Thomas H. from Pixabay) Maire Tecnimont S.p.A., through its subsidiary NextChem and Essential Energy USA Corp. today have executed a Front-End Engineering Design contract as well as a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a new biorefinery in South America for the production of Renewable Diesel. Essential Energy USA Corp is one of the leading biofuels producers in South America.Subject to the client’s Final Investment Decision, the biorefinery will produce 200,000 tpy (tons per year) of High-Quality Renewable Diesel from advanced bio-feedstocks non in competition with food. NextChem will be the exclusive EPC contractor. The project is expected to be operational in 2023.The biorefinery will transform natural oil, waste vegetables oils and tallow into HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils) also known in the market as Renewable Diesel. The Renewable Diesel is a fuel which is chemically identical to petroleum-based diesel with the advantage of improved performance. It is used worldwide as a drop-in biofuel in diesel vehicles with no engine modifications. Furthermore, the Renewable Diesel allows a Carbon Intensity reduction, for greenhouse gas emissions, above 80 percent compared with petroleum-based diesel.Maire Tecnimont Group has exhaustive experience in EPC contracting in Energy Services including in South America. Additionally, NextChem has been active in energy transition projects with a focus on deploying solutions in carbon footprint reduction, through the development of new technologies for the production of biofuels and biochemicals from biobased feedstock and circular chemicals from waste.Pierroberto Folgiero, Maire Tecnimont Group and NextChem Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Our business in the biofuels sector and in particular on the Renewable Diesel segment is gradually growing and South America is a very interesting area for us. Low carbon mandates in North America and Europe will drive strong demand and premium pricing: this, together with the availability of proven technologies and solid EPC capabilities opens a path of market success for such investments. We are proud to be the partner of a sector- leader company such as Essential Energy USA Corp. in this world scale industrial initiative which enhances the EPC capabilities of Maire Tecnimont Group in green chemistry and the biofuels market.” Source: Company Press Releaselast_img read more

first_imgAssets under management in French PERCO workplace retirement savings plans rose 11% since last year to reach nearly €17bn, according to figures from AFG, the French asset management association. Around 2.7m employees had already made contributions to a PERCO as at the end of June, also representing 11% year-on-year growth.Over six months, gross payments into PERCOs amounted to €1.6bn, up 7% compared with the first half of 2017. Withdrawals amounted to €500m, leaving net inflows of €1.1bn, up 10%.The number of employers offering a PERCO stood at 244,000 following 6% year-on-year growth, according to AFG, with 14,000 companies creating PERCOs in the six-month period. The association also noted that more than half of companies had transformed their PERCOs into PERCO Plus plans, which offer a lower charge on employer contributions due to the incorporation of an SME financing fund. These have to be at least 7% invested in small or medium-sized companies.PERCO Plus funds passed €1bn in assets on the back of 37% year-on-year growth, according to the AFG.Considerable room for growth remained, it added, as only 25% of employees with a PERCO had access to an SME fund.A third of the nearly €17bn assets in PERCOs, belonging to 41% of members, were managed according to the default lifecycle approach, AFG noted. The average amount held in the plans by savers was stable at €6,120.Thumbs-up for ‘proper’ pension savings reformMeanwhile, AFG said pension saving in France should get a boost from the government’s “PACTE” law.One of the main objectives of the law is to harmonise France’s existing retirement savings products, of which there are four, by bringing them under a new wrapper, the Plan d’Epargne Retraite, with some new rules to make pension saving more attractive. The PACTE law heralded a “proper” pension saving reform, according to AFG.Highlighting various provisions in the draft law – tax-deductible voluntary payments, freedom of choice at retirement, access to savings for buying a principal residence, and easier transfers – the association said these would be “strong incentives for savers to further prepare their retirement saving”.The draft PACTE law was recently adopted by the Assemblée Nationale and is due to be voted on in its final form next year. The government wants to see pension saving assets grow from around €220bn currently to €300bn by 2022.last_img read more

first_img Loading… Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says playing at an empty Anfield and winning the Premier League title with no fans present would be “pretty strange”. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson lifts the Champions League trophy Liverpool were 25 points clear of 2019 champions Manchester City and on the verge of their first English top-flight crown for 30 years when the league was shut down by coronavirus in March. Clubs returned to training in small and socially distanced groups last week ahead of a proposed restart in June. Henderson lifted the Champions League trophy in a packed stadium in Madrid last June but is preparing for a different experience this year. “Of course it would feel different because if you win any trophy and receive it without any fans there, it would be pretty strange,” he told the BBC. The 29-year-old England international midfielder said the title race was still not over. “We still have work to do and we still need to perform at a high level right the way until the season finishes because we want to finish as strongly as we can to make sure it is a full season,” he said. Henderson, who has been pivotal in Liverpool’s renaissance under Jurgen Klopp, said he hoped there would be a title celebration with fans inside Anfield in the future if, as appears certain, they finish the job. “Whether we win it or whatever, then (receiving) the trophy and the fans not being there… you just have to deal with it when it comes,” he said. There have been calls to delay the start of next season while the 2019-20 campaign finishes Read Also: Ighalo nears Man Utd extension amid foreign stars ban in China “Hopefully it does happen. We are still in a very good position. “It will mean we have won the Premier League and we will all be very happy but then we can look to the future – and whenever fans are allowed back into the stadium, I am sure we will have some sort of celebration together.” FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail分享 last_img read more
